Solutions to our nation's most pressing energy challenges are within reach by having a fundamental understanding of advanced materials and chemical processes that control matter and energy at the electronic, atomic and molecular level. Nanoscience and advanced computational models and high performance computing capabilities can predict the behavior of materials before they are made,  opening new horizons for creating materials designed to revolutionize the future of sustainable energy.

Join us at this summit to learn about leading edge research and how regional partnerships comprised of national laboratories, universities and industry can lead to breakthroughs in meeting our future energy needs.

Confirmed keynote speakers include:

  • Dr. Eric Isaacs, Director, Argonne National Lab
  • David Turek, Vice President of Deep Computing, IBM Corporation

Northern Tier Network – Partnering to Light the Future

Advanced networking and the ability to form collaborative relationships got a big boost last week with the dedication of the North Dakota segment of the Northern Tier Network. Keynote speaker Douglas E. Van Houweling, Founding President and CEO o Internet2, congratulated the North Dakota team for their hard work and determination to provide a robust research network connection for educational institutions in the upper-northwestern states by creating a national backbone route across the northern U.S. - the Northern Tier.

Senator Bryon Dorgan, who secured federal funding to help build out the ND segment, joined Van Houweling in congratulating the ND group led by Bonnie Neas, Vice President for Information Technology at NDSU.

The NTN will facilitate breakthroughs in science, arts and humanities by providing access to an expanded network of expertise and scientific instruments that can be accessed and utilized remotely.
