(FARGO, N.D.) — North Dakota based Praxis Energy Group is assisting a corporation formed by a group of Montana landowners with plans for developing a utility-scale, landowner-driven community wind energy project to be located near Dutton, in northwestern Montana. 

The project was conceived by the Montana Farmers Union and Agri Energy LLC, which consists of five landowners as the group’s founding members. Praxis Energy Group LLC is being consulted because of its experience in helping rural landowners and communities reap the economic benefits of wind resources. 

“When the Montana Farmers Union approached us about the concept of landowner-driven community wind projects, we jumped at the chance to become involved,” said Delore Zimmerman, Praxis president. “There’s a great deal of confusion in the marketplace surrounding wind resource development, so we decided to help the Montana landowners take matters into their own hands and control their own destiny.” 

Chris Christiaens of the Montana Farmers Union added, “Praxis has a long and credible history of assisting communities and regions with economic development and job creation. With their strategic alliances, they are now able to provide consultation and direction on wind resource development. 

“The Praxis model of working alongside rural landowners and community leaders to create their own wind energy, use it and sell it, fits perfectly with the mission and vision of the Montana Farmers Union,” he said. 

The Montana Farmers Union and Agri Energy LLC will hold community meetings to introduce the project and its wind development process to other Montana farmers and ranchers. Landowners will have the opportunity to explore options as they relate to the wind resources on their land.
